Gallery Representation- Tacit Art
One exciting bit of recent news is that I am now represented by Tacit Art.
Tacit Art is an art gallery in Abbotsford, Melbourne. They are currently celebrating their 25th year, but have only relatively recently ventured into the commercial gallery space, having previously operated as an artist-run gallery.
What does gallery representation mean for me?
One thing I deeply appreciate about being represented is that I now feel like I’ve got someone in my corner when it comes to my art.
I am pretty lucky to have this support and belonging in other areas of my life: I have a lovely network of close family, friends and teacher friends, but my connections to the art community had fallen away over the years as life got busier.
As a result, I had gotten to the point where I felt quite isolated and disconnected.
Being represented by Tacit Art means that I have someone (who is not me) to help present my art to the world, to help find an audience for it, and to help me grow in my practice.
But most of all, it makes me feel like I am now part of a wider creative community. It has been great to get to know Tim and Keith, meeting the other artists at the gallery and getting the chance to just ‘talk shop’.
I feel like me and my art are now more connected, and that has been remarkable.
I have my very first solo exhibition with Tacit Art opening on Wednesday November 12th 2025, and will be sharing my works in progress with you along the way. Save the date!
FUN FACT: Tacit Art lives at 314 Johnston Street, Abbotsford, JUST A FEW BLOCKS from where my great-grandparents and grandparents lived, and where my mother grew up…a return to the hood…
Tacit Art is run by artist TJ (Tim) Bateson (Curator and founder) and his partner Keith Lawrence (Director).
